Axpo is on the lookout for startups to collaborate on thrilling pilot projects. Among others, they’ve got their sights set on two major challenges:

How might we increase the sustainability and efficiency of power grids with BIM?

New building information modeling (BIM) and Digital Twin technologies are key to improved resource and energy efficiency in construction projects. Among other advantages, they enable optimizing resource utilization, reducing waste, and enhancing energy efficiency. By leveraging the power of BIM/Digital Twin, buildings and infrastructure assets can be designed, constructed, operated, and even demolished with sustainability in mind, helping us to move closer to a Net-Zero future. In line with its commitment to sustainability, Axpo is actively seeking innovative solutions within the domain of BIM or Digital Twin that can be applied to power grids.

How might we reduce the CO2 emissions and/or costs of hydrogen logistics by at least 25%?

Hydrogen is a promising energy carrier that has the potential to drive a greener energy landscape. However, there are challenges to overcome, especially when it comes to the sustainability and cost of logistics. Due to the physical characteristics of hydrogen, trucks can only carry limited capacities of hydrogen from production sites to customers, often not from the most efficient source. The result are high logistics costs and CO2 emissions; the latter are expected to increase further with growing amounts of transported hydrogen. Axpo is actively seeking innovative solutions to tackle these challenges, making hydrogen logistics more cost-effective and environmentally sustainable.

The Requirements

Originator: The solution can come from any kind of company or institution. However, the primary target group for the call are startups.

Geography:  Applications from all countries are admitted.

Language: The solution must be available in English and/or German.

Area: The solution should either directly address the challenge at hand, or there should be the ability and willingness to customize the solution accordingly.

Scalability: The solution must be easily scalable. Therefore, the primary focus is on software solutions, but hardware solutions are also permitted.

Maturity: The solution should be mature enough to be deployed and tested in a PoC in the first half of 2024.
